Republican candidate Donald Trump has won the US presidential election,secured second term and potentially won the votes of 270 electors need to become the next US President. All the US media houses declared him a winner on Wednesday as counting of votes continue in many states. Trump has won more popular (citizen) votes than Democrat Kamala Harris. According to the Associated Press, Trump also won 270 electoral votes need to to officially become the US President-elect. He is now the 47th president of USA.

Claiming victory on Wednesday, Donald Trump pledged to “heal” the country. He pledged to bring a “golden age” to the US as he took the stage on Wednesday. Trump has won three crucial swing states – Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia, bolstering his path to 270 electoral votes. Kamala Harris has won Virginia and Hawaii, adding to her earlier victories in Democratic strongholds like California, New York, and Illinois.
Trump has also claimed a string of states, including Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Ohio, alongside Nebraska’s third congressional district, strengthening his hold on the electoral race.
This close race is regarded as historic, with Harris potentially set to become the first woman, first Black woman, and first person of South Asian descent to assume the U.S. presidency if she prevails. A total of 538 electoral votes are at stake, with 270 needed to secure victory. In a bitterly contested election shattered her dream to become the first woman President of the United States. Harris, 60, has known other firsts, though. She has been the district attorney for San Francisco — the first woman, first African-American and first Indian-origin person to be elected to the position.
